AVENGERS…ASSEMBLE!

2014 was the 75th Anniversary of MARVEL. To commemorate the event, the tiny island nation of Niue authorized a limited-edition set of collectible coins and packaging featuring the superhero team of the decade—The Avengers!

Now Captain America, Thor, Hulk and Iron Man are more than mere comic book and movie characters—they’re legal tender currency!

Each proof-finish coin has a face value of $2 and comes in its own featured character tin. In turn, all four of the character tins fit into a larger collector’s tin that doubles as a lunchbox carry-all. The coins themselves are 40mm, 0.999 silver with selective reverse side coloring of artwork lifted straight from the comics, not the movies.

The 4-coins and collectible tin packaging are limited to a mere 3500 sets worldwide!

Included in each set is a die-cut, stainless steel Certificate of Authenticity featuring each Avenger. The Certificates are sequentially numbered 1 -3500. In addition, each coin comes with a state-of-the-art, lenticular printed, 3D Trading Card that includes a character biography and power chart!

If that wasn’t enough, also included in the set is a limited edition, cloisonné lapel pin featuring a custom icon that represents each of the four superheroes.

About the Avengers
Captain America – The First Avenger

Captain America represents the pinnacle of human physical perfection. First appearing in Captain America Comics #1 in March 1941, Captain America was wildly popular during World War II. Since the resurgence of the Marvel superheroes movies, Captain America has regained popularity with both children, and children at heart.

The Hulk – The Incredible Avenger

The Incredible Hulk, and his alter ego Bruce Banner, were created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and first appeared in The Incredible Hulk #1, published by Marvel Comics in May 1962. A brilliant scientist, Banner transforms into the Hulk, possessing near limitless superhuman strength, when angered or emotionally stressed. These involuntary transformations cause many complications in Banner’s life.

Thor – The Mighty Avenger

Based on the Norse mythological deity of the same name, Thor is the Asgardian god of thunder and possesses the enchanted hammer Mjolnir, which grants him the ability of flight and weather manipulation (amongst his other superhuman attributes). Debuting during the Silver Age of Comic Books, the character was created by editor-plotter Stan Lee, scripter Larry Lieber and penciller Jack Kirby, and first appeared in Journey into Mystery #83 (Aug. 1962).

Iron Man – The Armored Avenger

Wounded, captured and forced to build a weapon by his enemies, billionaire industrialist Tony Stark instead created an advanced suit of armor to save his life and escape captivity. With a new outlook on life, Tony uses his money and intelligence to make the world a safer, better place as Iron Man. The character was created by writer-editor Stan Lee, developed by scripter Larry Lieber, and designed by artists Don Heck and Jack Kirby. He made his first appearance in Tales of Suspense #39 (March 1963).
